Taiwo Awoniyi Nominated For The Premier League Player Of The Month For August.

Nottingham Forest Forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month for August.


The Nigeria Super Eagles star has been recognised for his impressive displays for the Tricky Trees in the month which saw him score three goals in Nottingham Forest first three league games this season.

Awoniyi continued his sensational goal-scoring form towards the end of last campaign, and help Nottingham Forest escape relegation.


He scored in the 2-1 defeat away to Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

He was also on target in the 2-1 home victory against Sheffield United and 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.


The 25-year-old striker, has become the first Forest player to score in 7 consecutive league games and has equaled Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor's feat of an African player scoring in 7 consecutive games in the English top-flight.


Awoniyi was been nominated alongside Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison, Ballon d'Or nominee and Man City's midfielder Rodri, Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, Brighton & Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma and West Ham's Jarrod Bowen for the award.

The six nominees were announced on the Premier League’s website on Thursday.

Fans have until on Monday 11 September by 12pm to pick their favourite via the EA SPORTS website.

Also, the votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be announced next week.


Awoniyi has also been called to the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 AFCON Group A qualifying game against São Tomé and Príncipe on Sunday, 10 September, inside the Godswill Akpabio international stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
