PSG Kick-off 2024 With A Trophy, As They Clinch A Record-Extending 12th Trophee des Champions Title.

Paris Saint-Germain defeats Toulouse 2-0 on Wednesday night to clinch a record extending 12th Trophee des Champions title.

It is manager Luis Enrique's first piece of silverware in charge of the Parisiens.

PSG started the game in exactly the manner that you would expect and it took them just three minutes to open the scoring at the Parc des Princes and did so in style after a great ball from Vitinha found Ousmane Dembele on the right wing who went to the byline and pulled it across the box where Lee Kang-in was waiting to place it into the bottom corner.

He looked thrilled to have scored on a cup final for his new team, and it set the tone for the rest of the evening.

PSG continued their dominance until the latter stages of the first-half when Mbappe doubled the lead in the 44th minute with a fine individual effort, having raced past three Toulouse defenders and brilliantly fired past the goalkeeper into the far corner.

Toulouse began the second-half a more determined side, and were the better team in the half but were unable to turn that into a goal, with PSG holding on to secure the victory.

It is PSG's record 12th Trophee des Champions victory, and they will hope the first of many trophies the team win this season.

The Parisians are five points clear atop Ligue 1, and will play Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League last 16, and start their Coupe de France campaign against sixth-tier Revel on Sunday.
