Antonio Conte To Make Return To Management As He 'agrees three-year deal' With Napoli.

• Antonio Conte has been appointed as the new head coach of Italian side Napoli. 

• Napoli called on Conte to start a new era at the club after going through three different tacticians in the post-Scudetto season.

Conte is set to be unveiled as the new Napoli manager at the prestigious San Carlo theatre in the city of Naples on Monday morning after the club agreed all personal terms for the contract, including image rights which are always a complicated part of any negotiations with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The contract is believed to be worth €7m plus €1m in bonuses. His staff will include director Lele Oriali, assistants Cristian Stellini, Coratti, Elvis Abbruscato and Gianluca Conte.

Conte will sign a three-year deal until June 2027 to take charge of reigning Serie A champions Napoli, as the final details were resolved today, as confirmed by, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia.

Despite rumours over the last few days, there is to be no release clause in the deal allowing the coach to leave after just one year at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli won the Serie A for the first time in 33 years during the 2022-2023 season, but have endured a nightmare title defence.

Their reign as Serie A champions will end in a matter of days, with Inter Milan having won the Scudetto this time around by a staggering 19 points ahead of rivals AC Milan.

They had a very difficult 2023-2024 season in which they finished in the 10th spot with 53 points in 38 games.

The Italian giants have gone through three permanent managers, with current boss Francesco Calzona having won just three of his 16 games.

Their previous manager was Rudi Garcia, who lasted just three months into the season before being sacked in November.

Conte on the other hand, have always wanted a return to his home country to be closer to his family after the Tottenham Hotspur experience. 

It's been over 14 months after deciding to walk away from the North London club in March 2023 after a difficult set of games, and has remained jobless since then.

However, he revealed that he had turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League. He was also linked with the Chelsea job, with reports from Italy claiming that the Blues had been in contact with their former manager prior to Mauricio Pochettino's departure.

Napoli are now placing their trust in a manager who is a title specialist, with Conte winning Serie A four times (3x with Juventus, 1 with Inter Milan) and the Premier League once (with Chelsea) during his managerial career.
