Diego Costa known for his raging  temperament, has often times been criticized and punished for several confrontations with opponents, The Spanish football federation's ban therefore rules out of the remaining La Liga fixtures this season for the team.

Costa who was sent off in the 28th minutes at the Camp Nou was giving a four game ban for using abusive language on the referee and another four game ban for grabbing the referees arm.

Diego Simeone the Argentine born football manager 48 spoke after the full time whistle, saying that the red card would be the right decision if Costa truly insulted the referee, other players have have said things and not been sent off, but that does not justify what Costa did." said the Athletico Madrid Manager.

Atletico Madrid who are currently in second place,11 points behind league leaders Barcelona have indicated, that they will appeal the eight match ban handed to Diego Costa by the Spanish Football Federation on Thursday.

The Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said "Its a bad news, the natural thing is for us to appeal, to ask for leniency and see what happens.
There are players who are very temperamental, Abusive language should never be used on the football field but there are times when they happen."
