Novak Djokovic Defeats Roger Federer In An Epic Fifth Set Thriller To Win Second Straight Wimbledon Title
Djokovic successfully defends his Wimbledon title after an incredible battle with Federer, which is the greatest and longest contest in the Men's Wimbledon final in history, surpassing that of Federer and Nadal in 2008.
Novak Djokovic became the first man in 71 years to win Wimbledon after facing match points in the final, coming back to beat Roger Federer in an unprecedented fifth-set tiebreaker.
Roger Federer, who turns 38 next month, before the match attempts to win a record-extending ninth Wimbledon title and 21 Grand Slam title, as he also hopes of becoming the only second player to defeat Rafeal Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same Grand Slam championship after Stan Wawrinka at the 2014 Australian Open, was all jeopardized after his defeat to the World No.1 Djokovic.
Federer in his runners-up speech:
"You take it on the chin, move on and try to forget. I will try to take the good things out of this match because there is tons of it. It hurts, like every loss at Wimbledon. I'm very strong at moving on. I don't want to be depressed about losing an amazing tennis match".
"I hope I give some other people a chance to believe that at 37, it's not over yet."
