Lionel Messi Is Crowned Ballon D'or Winner For A Record Sixth Time.

The Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, has just won the Ballon D'Or title for a record sixth-time more than any other footballer in the world....
Winner 2019 Ballon D'or... Lionel Messi

The 32-year-old Argentine moved a step higher in Paris, after he was announced the winner of the award for the sixth time in 12 years (2009, 2010, 2011,2012, 2015 and now 2019) respectively, over Juventus and Portugal  rival "Cristiano Ronaldo" who has also won the award Five times in 12 years (2018, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017).

Only Croatia and Real Madrid Midfielder "Luka Modric' was able to break in once during the last 12-years of the award, when he won it after a successful outing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Lionel Messi scored a total number of 54 goals for both club and country in the 2018/19 season, also helping his team Barcelona to a semi-final Champions League finish, together with the La Liga trophy last season.

Messi won the award ahead of Liverpool and Dutch defender, "Virgil Van Dijk" who emerged  second in the list, Cristiano Ronaldo in third and Liverpool's duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah who is fourth and fifth respectively.

Messi after winning the prestigious award says:
“I enjoyed having five and being the only one. When Cristiano moved level, I admit that it hurt me a bit. I was no longer alone at the top. But it made sense, although it was good when I was alone at five."

"It is down to individual taste, some prefer Cristiano, others myself, while some Neymar or Kylian Mbappe.
People have the right to choose whom they love most".

Lionel Messi and Family

Lionel Messi who attended the event along side his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, and two sons Thiago and Mateo Messi have received different congratulatory messages from Barcelona greats...

Former teammates Ronaldinho congratulates Messi via his instagram handle...
"Now there are 6 my brother Leo! Congratulations on the much deserved achievement. Unfortunately, I couldn't be with you tonight, but my heart is filled by the amazing person you are.
As an athlete, you don't need to talk, every game is a show."

Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol:
"Congratulations Leo...
It's already six and I'm sure you would still win some more".
"Thank you for making us enjoy so much, you are an example of passion and love for the game".

Italy and Juventus Captain Giorgio Chiellini who was at the Gala del Calcio awards in Milan on Monday night, shared his thoughts on the 2019 Ballon D'or saying...
“It's okay that Messi has won the Ballon d'Or this year. The real theft was last year.
“Real Madrid decided that Cristiano should not win the Ballon d’Or, It was really strange.

"Cristiano won the Champions League, [but I suppose] by that logic Van Dijk should have won it this year.
"Maybe last year Griezmann, Pogba or Mbappe should have won for doing extraordinary things at the World Cup.
"Giving it to Modric made no sense."
