Only Urgent New Signings Now Can Save Manchester United Bad Season, Says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has made his intentions about an urgent need of signing new players this January, so as to improve the teams performance, after suffering a fourth defeat ln 2020.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side have exhibited recent poor performance on the pitch, overseeing the club’s worst points tally after 24 games in the Premier League since over 30 years (1988/89 season), after 9 wins, 7 draws and 8 loss this season and are currently sitting 5th in the league standings on 34 points.

After his side recent 2-0 defeat to Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, making it a fourth defeat in 2020, and are currently 30 points behind league leaders Liverpool and 6 points away from a top four, Champions League spot, The United’s manager, Solskjaer assumed responsibility for the results and confirmed the club is looking to strengthen its first-team squad with new additions, in order to take the burden off fatigued young players.

Since the 46-year-old took over from Jose Mourinho in March 2019, things have looked rather more gloomy for United, as the former forward has managed 45 games, won 19 games, drawn 11 and lost 15 games in all competitions.

United have also dropped 18 points in their last 12 games, and have 11 fewer points than they did after 24 matches last season, which is an indication the club have moved backwards rather than forwards in the league under Solskjaer.

The club’s management and players remain fully behind the Norwegian, and will not sack him anytime soon, but the teams performance must improve before the end of the season or he will have to forfeat his role as manager.

Solskjaer is currently without key players Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay through injury and is hopeful of strengthening his squad before the January window shuts. He feels that six more signings are required - a full back, two central midfielders, a No 10, a striker and a winger.

With 7 days left in the January transfer window, the club have promised Solskjaer that funds are available, and are willing to pay in excess of £30m for Birmingham City’s 16-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham while they hope to complete Bruno Fernandes move to Old Trafford from  Sporting Lisbon before the end of the January transfer window..

According to a recent interview with Sky Sports News, Solskjaer says;

"There remains a willingness from all parties to get a deal done for the 25-year-old before the deadline on January 31.

“I’m responsible for what is happening on the pitch, we’re looking to strengthen, we need to strengthen and we know that.

“We took the decision to let some players go as we needed to start afresh with a clear sight on the target in front of us which is a certain type of player. We know we need to get quality players in.

"These current players in the team are stretched, they have played more than they should have and i cannot complain, because they give everything they’ve got. They need a mid-season break"...says the Norwegian.
