Former Super Eagles Defender Taye Taiwo Confirms The Death Of His Father.

Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo has confirmed the death of his father, Pa Salisu TAIWO.


Late Salisu spent most of his life working as an electric welder in Isheri-Olofin area of Lagos and later had the opportunity of seeing his son, Taye become a successful footballer

The 34-year-old Taye Taiwo had started his football career as a teenager in Nigeria Division 1club Gabros International, before he was bought by Nigeria Premier League side, Lobi Stars, spending only one season with the side.

At the age of 20, He moved on to top European clubs, like French side, Olympique de Marseille in 2005, spending 6-years with the Ligue1 side before moving to AC Milan in 2011 under former manager Massimiliano Allegri.

He currently plays in Finland for Veikkausliiga side RoPS Rovaniemi since his move to the side in 2018.

According to Today.ng, The Taiwos are now without any parent as their mother died several years ago.

Pa Taiwo and his late wife had his children at Isheri-Olofin, a poor, densely populated outpost in the sprawling city of Lagos where the former AC Milan defender also grew up.
Taiwo was born a twin but his brother, Kehinde, died when they were about two and a half years old.

He also reaped the benefits of being the father of an illustrious footballer as the left-back built a house for him in Isheri-Olofin.

Taye's late father is survived by the 2005 Fifa U-20 World Cup finalist and four other siblings.

The former Marsielle and AC Milan player annouced the sad newson Wednesday via his offcial Instagram handle.

He wrote;
'RIP in peace my father"!
