Emmanuel Adebayor Shuns Critics, And Defends His Refusal For Not Donating To His Country's Fight Against Coronavirus.
Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor has stated that he will not be forced by anyone to make donations towards helping his country in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
The 36-year-old has recently been heavily criticized by the public in Togo, for refusing to donate towards the nations battle against COVID-19 outbreak.
Football activities has been halted across the world, with most countries in some state of lockdown as authorities attempt to control the rapid spread of the virus under control.
According to reports, Togo have recorded 86 cases of the virus, while six of those cases have led to deaths so far.
Adebayor has also hit back to the various criticism leveled at him through a Facebook live video published by himself;
“For those who say that I do not donate, let me be very clear, I really do not donate. This is very simple.”
“I do what I want to do, eat the food I want, and this is the most important. Then, there will be those who criticise me for not having established a charity in Togo.
“But it seems that I brought the coronavirus to Togo, it is very unfortunate, but this is the case and what happened in the country.”
The 2008 African footballer of the year also emphasized on the fact that he is a different human and should not be compared to anybody on how he spends his money, not even the likes of Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba;
“You all compare me to Didier Drogba and Samuel Etoo, but unfortunately I am not Drogba and I am not Etoo, I am Emmanuel Adebayor and I will always do what I want to do.”
"A word of advice for you all regarding donations, I won't do that. Everything is clear and simple."

The former Arsenal and Man City striker, has the most caps and he is the all time top-scorer for his native country Togo, having featured 87 times and scoring 32 goals.
