Bayern Munich Offers New Contract To Manager Hansi Flick, Which Will Now Keep Him At The Club Until June 2023.
Bayern Munich have confirmed on Friday that Head Coach Hansi Flick will be staying longer with the side, after he signed a three-year contract which will now keep him at the club until June 2023.
Flick initially had been the assistant manager under former manager Niko Kovac, who left the club last November by mutual consent.
Flick was immediately appionted as interim manager to oversee the team, before Bayern announced the following month that he would stay on through the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, stated that the club is pleased with Hansi Flick's work so far;
“The team has developed beneath his management and we’re playing attractive football, which is reflected in the results"... He said.
“I am looking ahead to the upcoming tasks collectively with my coaching staff and the team,” Flick said after his contract extension. “The conversations with Rummenigge, Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic were very good and characterised by great mutual trust."
"Together we have defined the path for the coming years. I am certain that we can achieve a lot together.”
Since his appiontment, Flick has had a successful run of form since then, leading the team to 18 wins, 1 draw, and 2 loses in his 21 competitive games in charge.
"It's a very great move for FC Bayern that the coach also understands the club's philosophy," said Bayern CEO Kahn: "Hansi was first a player at Bayern, he was an assistant coach; now he's permanently head coach. It's a good progression.
"Hansi knows the mentality of the club, he knows that FC Bayern is measured by maximum success and I'm pleased that we can now develop the club's culture together with him in the coming years."
Bayern Munich are currently leading the Bundesliga standings with 55 points, and four points clear above second Borrusia Dortmund, and five-points above third place team RB Leipzig before the suspension of the 2019/20 season.
The former Hoffenheim manager, and former German national team assistant manager, has one leg to qualify Bayern into the 2019/20 Champions League quarter-finals, after leading his side to a 3-0 win over Chelsea in the round of 16 first-leg clash at Stamford Bridge last month, before the competition was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
