Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr Gives A Tenacious Response To The Tough Conditions Surrounding In His Contract Renewal.
Nigeria's Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has made his intentions known consigning extending his contract as coach of the team.
The Franco-German, who has been in charge of the Super Eagles for close to four-year now has just two-months left in his contract.
Following the public statement of the Nigeria football federation President Amaju Pinnick on Tuesday, in which he gave some tough conditions to Gernot Rohr’s consigning his contract renewal, which includes staying in Nigeria, being paid in Naira and watching Nigerian league games.
Pinnick stated that a fresh contract for Rohr will be ready in one week, and the only thing that could jeopardize the contract is if he refuses to accept some of the new clauses included with the contract.
Rohr has responded tenaciously that all he wants is to lead the Super Eagles to the next African cup of Nations in Cameroon and the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar, even if means being deprived of more money and bonuses.
The 66-year-old, Speaking on Wednesday from his location in France via a live chat on social media with ex-press officer of the Super Eagles "Colin Udoh", he said;
"I'm waiting for the (contract) proposal. Things could be very easy."
"Personally, I received a few offers from other countries but I rejected them, my first priority is to continue leading the Super Eagles."
Rohr shared his thoughts about his new contract conditions with the NFF, he said;
"My philosophy is not to speak publicly about these things. I saw, like you, what was said on social media, but I can't comment.
"Already, I've spent more time in Nigeria over the past three years. All my players, except one, plays abroad."
The former Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso national team coach also spoke about him inviting the league players to the national team;
"I've invited about 24 local players since I was appointed. Funnily, most of them get a contract in Europe almost immediately.
"It's difficult getting local players who are better than the ones we already have. That's why CHAN is important."
CloudNine Sports reported that since his appiontment as coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has overseen a total of 49 games, getting 29 wins, 11 draws and 9 losses.
