Kylian Mbappe Believes That Monaco's Forward Wissam Ben Yedder Deserves A Share Of The Ligue 1 Golden Boot Award.

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has reacted to being awarded the French Ligue 1 Golden Boot award, as he believes that Monaco's forward Wissam Ben Yedder also deserved a share of the award.

The 21-year-old was officially awarded the Ligue 1 Golden Boot award on Thursday, despite being tied on 18 goals with Ben Yedder before the season was abandoned after the French authorities decreed there would be no sporting events until September due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Mbappe finished with the same amount of goals as Monaco's Ben Yedder, but was recognised as the season's top scorer having scored all his goals from open play, while Ben Yedder finished second because three of his 18 goals were from the penalty spot

CloudNine Sports reported last week, that Paris Saint-German were crowned champions with a 12 points lead at the top the league standings having 68 points after 27 matches.

The 2018 World Cup winner with France, likened the situation to the 2018/19 Premier League season where the African trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all shared the Golden Boot award after finishing on 22 goals each.

Mbappe who also won the golden boot last season, scoring 33 goals in 29 league games, wrote on Twitter:
“Thank you all for your messages. I do think that Wissam also deserves a trophy, as it did in the Premier League last season to reward his year"...ending his tweet with the hashtag 'A trophy for Wissam'.

Wissam Ben Yedder also responded saying:
"Thank you bro, congratulations to you... We can alternate if you want."
