FIFA 2022 World Cup In Qatar Set To Commence On November 21, With The Final On December 18.
FIFA have on Wednesday, confirmed the dates for the commencement of the 22nd edition of the 2022 FIFA World World Cup in Qatar.
The mundial is set to commemce at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on Monday, 21st November with a game which will feature the host country Qatar, and final will be held at the 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium in Doha on Sunday, 18th December.
This will also mark the first World Cup not to be held in May, June, or July as usual; but rather scheduled for late November until mid-December.
It would feature 32 national teams from across 6 confederations around the world.
Four matches will be played a day during the group stage of the 2022 tournament, which will spread over eight stadiums all within a 40-mile radius of each other in Qatar.
Group games will be played over a 12-day period, with matches not being assigned to particular venues until after the finals draw in March 2022 international match calendar qualifying window.
Matches will kick off at three-hour intervals, beginning at 1.00pm local time (1000 GMT), with the late match kicking off at 10:00pm local time.
The Round of 16 will be played from December 3rd to 6th, the Quater-Finals on December 9th and 10th, the Semi-Finals on December 13th and 14th, then the final on Decenmber 18th.
"With the aim of providing all teams with optimal rest between their matches, the group stage will last 12 days and, with four matches per day, it promises a full and exciting schedule for fans.... A statement from FIFA's website reads.
"The tournament’s compact nature – with no air travel needed to move between the venues – will allow organisers, for the first time, to optimise specific match demands for the benefit and comfort of fans, teams and media.
France are the reigning champions of the tournament which was held in Russia 2018, they defeated Croatia 4-2 in the finals on July 15 at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow to be crowned champions.

The 2022 World Cup qualifying matches, has begun in Asia and Africa but is yet to start in Europe, the Americas and Oceania.
This would be the first ever World Cup to be played in the Arab world, and the second in the confederation (Asia) since the 2002 tournament in Korea/Japan.

The hospitality sales are scheduled to start in late 2020. Ticket sales for the general public will also be communicated in due course.
