OFFICIAL: AS Roma Confirms The Signing Of Former Chelsea Star "Pedro" On A Free Transfer.

AS Roma have officially announced the signing former Chelsea winger Pedro Rodriguez on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old Spanish forward who has won a total of 25 trophies in his career, becomes Roma's first signing of the summer, as he joins the Giallorossi on a three-year contract that runs until 30 June 2023.

CloudNine Sports had reported in June, that Pedro had agreed a deal in principle with AS Roma following the end of his contract with Chelsea.

The move sees Pedro end his five-year stay at Stamford Bridge, since his 2015 summer move from Spanish club side Barcelona, a team where he played as a youth.

He scored 43 goals in 201 appearances during his stay with the Blues, winning three trophies with the team, one Premier League in 2017, one FA Cup in 2018 and the Europa League in 2019.

Pedro on Tuesday, expressed his delight on this next chapter of his career via the club's website following his successful arrival at the Italian capital.

"I am delighted to be here at Roma,”

“I’m excited for this challenge and to compete to achieve our targets over the coming seasons.

“I want to thank the fans for the welcome they’ve given me. I hope to make them happy.”

The former Barcelona player also won the treble twice with the Cataluyan side and the Champions League on three occasions, including scoring in the final of the 2011 competition against Manchester United.

“It’s a privilege for us to be able to welcome a player of Pedro’s quality to the Roma family,” said club CEO Guido Fienga.

“The hope we have, for both him and for us, is that he can continue to add to his extraordinary list of achievements with AS Roma.”

Pedro has made 65 Caps for his country, scoring 17 goals, and was part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup in 2010 and European Championship in 2012.

The new Serie A season is scheduled to get underway on September 19.
