Former Man United Star "Ryan Giggs" Is Charged With Assaulting Two Women And Controlling Or Coercive Behaviour

Wales national team manager Ryan Giggs, has been charged with three offences on Friday, which includes assaulting two women, and controlling or coercive behaviour.

The former Manchester United winger is accused of causing actual bodily harm to a woman in her 30s PR worker Kate Greville, and common assault of a woman in her 20s during the same alleged incident, said the Great Manchester Police.

He faces an additional charge of coercive and controlling behaviour between December 2017 and November 2020.

Giggs is set to appear on bail at Manchester and Salford court next Wednesday, 28th April to answer the three counts after police were called to his home in Salford November last year.

According to reports, Wales have confirmed that their manager Ryan Giggs, will not be in charge of the national team at the upcoming Euro 2020.

The Football Association of Wales said in a statement;

"It has noted the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service to proceed with charging Ryan Giggs, the men’s national team manager," the FAW affirmed in a statement released shortly after the CPS announced its intent to charge the former United star.

"An FAW Board meeting will be convened to discuss these developments and its impact on the Association and the national team. The FAW will not be making any further comment at this current time."

The Wales assistant team manager Robert Page will take charge of Wales at this summer's rescheduled European Championships and to be assisted by Albert Stuivenberg.

Rob Page had stepped in as Welsh interim manager as Giggs was asked to stay away following his arrest in November 2020.

Page oversaw the final two group games which gained them promotion to the top tier of the UEFA Nations League and the start of their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Ryan Giggs also said in a statement said that he would plead not guilty to the charges in court.

"I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations," said the 47-year-old.

"I look forward to clearing my name."

"I also wish Robert Page, the coaching staff, the players and the supporters every success at the Euros this summer."

Giggs played for Manchester United between 1990 and 2014, scoring 168 goals in 963 appearances and winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his 24-year successful career at Old Trafford.

He is currently a co-owner of League Two side Salford City.

Giggs won 64 caps, and scored 12 goals for Wales between 1991 and 2007 and was appointed national manager in January 2018, leading them to qualification for Euro 2020.
