Liverpool Agrees Personal Terms With Konaté From RB Leipzig

Liverpool are set to sign center-back Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig.

The Merseyside club having fought off competition from several other Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United, are now poised to win the race for the 21-year-old French defender.

According to reports, it appears that both parties have now reached a full agreement over a summer transfer to Anfield.

Liverpool have agreed a five-year contract with Konate, who has a €35million (£30.5m) release clause and would be paid in the coming days.

The signing of the former Sochaux player, would help relieve the defensive crisis faced currently by Jurgen Klopp's team.

Liverpool have had so many injury problems at the centre-back position throughout their Premier League title defence with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joël Matip all being ruled out for the rest of the season.

This won't be the first time Liverpool would sign a player from Leipzig, they had signed Guinean central midfielder Naby Keïta for £48 million plus add-ons in July 2018

Konaté has made 92 appearances for RB Leipzig and scoring 4 goals since joining the German club in July 2017.
