Dortmund Are Crowned 2020/21 DFB Pokal Champions Following Victory Over RB Leipzig, (Match Reports And Highlights)

Borussia Dortmund are crowned champions of the 2020/21 DFB Pokal (German Cup) after trashing RB Leipzig 4-1 in the final on Thursday night.

Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland each scored twice as Borussia Dortmund lift the German Cup.

The match which went down at the Olympiastadion in Berlin saw Jadon Sancho opened the scoring five minute into the game with a fine effort after cutting inside on his right foot to put the ball beyond goalkeeper Peter Gulasci.

Haaland doubled BVB’s advantage in the 28th minutes after coolly slotting home before Sancho scored a brace just before the break to put the BlackYellow side three up at halftime.

The 21-year-old England winger Sancho, became the youngest player to score twice in the showpiece match, making it his eight goals in his last 10 games despite a slow start to the season.

Dortmund were brutally efficient in the first half, scoring with each of their three shots on target, as they hope to continue from where they had stopped in the second-half.

Haaland added his second in the 88th minute, and rounded off the scoring late on in the game after Dani Olmo's consolation goal in the 71st minute.

It was the Norwegian 39th goal in 39 games at club level this season, as Dortmund secure a famous victory over Julian Nagelsmann side.

The RB Leipzig manager was hoping to depart RB Leipzig on a high ahead of his switch to Bayern Munich next season, but his hopes of winning Leipzig's first piece of major silverware were dashed.

Leipzig who have now lost in the final twice in the last three years, were also defeaed 3-2 away to fourth place Dortmund in the Bundlesliga on Saturday, with Sancho also bagging a brace in that fixture.

This would be Dortmund's fifth German Cup triumph and their first since 2017.

The Dortmund manager Edin Terzic became the youngest manager to lift the DFB-Pokal at age 38 and 195 days, since Thomas Schaaf (38 years and 43 days) for Werder Bremen in 1998-99.
