PSG Completes The Signing Of Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma On a Free Transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain has completed the signing of Italian shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma on free transfer just days after leading his country to Euro 2020 glory.


Gianluigi Donnarumma departed AC Milan last month after failing to agree on a new contract with the Rossoneri side. 


The 22-year-old goalkeeper, was seen leaving his team's hotel in Rome the day after the 1-0 Group A win over Wales at Euro 2020 to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Mauricio Pochettino's side

He signed a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 club on Wednesday, which will keep in Paris until 2026.


Donnarumma becomes the third player to sign for PSG on a free transfer this summer following the arrivals Spanish defender Sergio Ramos and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum who were out of contract with Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively.



He will be in competition with the experienced Keylor Navas for the first choice goalkeeeper’s jersey.


“I am delighted to be part of this huge club,” said Donnarumma in a statement released by PSG.

“I feel ready to take on this new challenge and continue to grow here.

“With Paris, I want to win as much as possible and to bring joy to the supporters.”


During his six seasons stay with AC Milan where he made his debut at age 16 in 2015, the Naples-born goalkeeper made 215 Serie A appearances along with 16 Europa League matches and 12 Italian Cup matches (including the 2016 and 2018 finals).



Donnarumma was recently named Player of the Tournament as his two saves in the penalty shootout win over England in the final at Wembley last Sunday helped the Azzurri win the Euros for the first time since 1968.
