All About The Confirmed 2021/22 Champions League Last-16 Draw.

After previously making a mistake in the released Champions League last-16 draw on Monday afternoon, UEFA opted to redo the entire draw.

Manchester United had been paired against fellow group survivors Villarreal in the first draw (and then failing to replace United when the initial error was corrected) UEFA decided to void the draw -- despite Real  Madrid initially drawing Benfica.

"Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. As a result of this, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET."... UEFA said in a statement.

The new draw has now been completed with eight fixtures now been decided for the next stage of the Champions League, with only reigning champions Chelsea vs Ligue 1 champions Lille having the same outcome from the initial draw.

Last two-season fanalist Paris Saint-Germain who were formerly paired with Man United, will now face Real Madrid in the new draw.

In other words, Lionel Messi is set to return to Spain for the massive encounter, while Sergio Ramos and Angel Di Maria will also be returning to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to face their old club, with plenty at stake if PSG are to remain on track to win their first-ever Champions League title.

Three-time winners Inter Milan will meet six-time champions Liverpool in what is also a heavyweight showdown.

Another big player Cristiano Ronaldo will also return to Spain in the last 16 as Manchester United will face his former rivals Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese player gained hero-like status during his time at Real Madrid, as he helped them win four Champions League trophies, with two of those coming after beating Atletico in the 2014 and 2016 finals.

Last year's runner-up Manchester City will face Sporting CP as they battle to win their first ever Champions League trophy.

Favorites Bayern Munich will face Red Bull Salzburg, while Ajax who have been impressive in the tournament this season having won all their six games in the group stage will face Portuguese side Benfica.
