The 2021/22 FA Cup Third Round Draws Set To Begin In The New Year

The 2021/22 English FA Cup third round draw have been completed on Monday with teams knowing their opponents.

The FA Cup, which is the longest running football competition in the world, was first won by Manchester City in 1904.

Reigning champions Leicester City will begin their title defence at home to Watford in one of the three all Premier League tie.

The other two all Premier League tie would see Leeds United pay a visit to a solid West Ham side, while Manchester United will take on Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa at Old Trafford as interim manager Ralf Rangnick looks to end the club's lengthy trophy drought during his six month stay.

Villa have already won 1-0 at Old Trafford earlier this season under Dean Smith prior to his sacking and will be looking to repeat the feat under the guidance of former Liverpool's legend Gerrard.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all drew lower league oppositions.

European champions Chelsea will face the leaders of the National League Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s side who are currently third in the Premier League were beaten by Leicester City in last season’s cup final.

Liverpool host Shrewsbury, while 2019 winners Manchester City travel to League Two to play Swindon town.

Man City would be looking to win the title for a second time under Guardiola

After West Ham knocked Man City out of the Carabao Cup in October, they would be looking to win the FA Cup title for a second time under Guardiola.

Tottenham Hotspur will also play League One opposition at home after Antonio Conte’s side were paired with Morecombe.

14h-times record winners Arsenal were the last team picked out of the hat to pay Nottingham Forest a visit.

The FA Cup campaign is due to kick off in the New Year with the third-round ties taking place between Friday 7 January and Monday 10 January.
