BREAKING: Philippe Coutinho Joins Aston Villa On A Six-Month Loan Deal.

Aston Villa have announced the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy.

The transfer is subject to a medical and obtaining a work permit, as Aston Villa will pay part of Coutinho's wages.

The agreement also includes an option to buy and Philippe will travel to Birmingham in the next 48 hours.

Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018 for a club record fee of €150 million, but struggled to replicate the fine form he had at Liverpool since joining the Blaugrana side.

He has so far made 106 appearances for Barca, scoring 26 goals and his record is 65 wins, 24 draws and 15 defeats.

The Brazilian international also moved to join Bayern Munich on loan for the 2019/20 season, and did well but was not enough to make the transfer a permanent one.

He is now set to re-unite with current Villa's boss Steven Gerrard who was his teammate for two-and-a-half years at Liverpool.

The 29-year-old had spent six years in the Premier League playing for Liverpool, making a total of 201 appearances for the Anfield club, scoring 54 goals.

Coutinho wants more playing time which is why he is leaving the Camp Nou to join Villa who are 13th in the Premier League table.

His goal is to make the Brazil squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
