Emmanuel Dennis Wins Two Awards For Watford Despite AFCON Disappointment.

Emmanuel Dennis has been crowned the winner of both the Watford Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for December despite AFCON disappointment.

Dennis put up a sensational performance despite a difficult December that saw the Hornets loose all four league games against (Chelsea, Man City, Brentford, and West Ham) played last month, as they continue their struggle for Premier League survival.

Dennis was still able to score three goals against Chelsea, Brentford and West Ham United to add to his impressive stats of 8 goals in 17 appearances so far this season.

The Nigeria international saw off competition from Men’s teammate Moussa Sissoko, Golden Girls Emma Beckett and Georgie Ferguson to win the prize.

In the Goal of the Month category, Dennis had two goals nominated for this award competing with three other strikes in December.

His goal in the 4-1 defeat at home to West Ham on December 28, emerged as the best Goal of the Month.

The forward dribbled past West Ham centre backs, and scored a fantastic goal with his left foot to open scoring on the day at Vicarage Road.

Dennis who is regarded as the best summer signing in the Premier League this season, would be winning the Watford Player of the Month award for the third time, having won it also in August and November.

The 24-year-old joined Watford from Club Brugge in June, following a brief loan spell at FC Köln.

Unfortunately, he was unable to make it to the final Nigeria Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup Of Nations tournament in Cameroon, despite his willingness to participate after been initially called up to the team.

Watford blocked him for honouring his country call claiming that his call-up letter arrived late.

Claudio Ranieri side are currently in 17th place in the league standings, that's two points above 18th/19th place Burnley and Newcastle, and three points above bottom place Norwich City.

They prepare to play away to Leicester City in the FA Cup third round fixture this Saturday, with Dennis set to be out of action.

Dennis was withdrawn at half-time in the 1-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur on 1st January, and is unlikely to be risked at King Power Stadium as he is still struggling with a slight knock.
