AS Roma Set A £100m Price Tag On Tammy Abraham As A Return To The Premier League Intensifies.

AS Roma have reportedly slapped a £100,000,000 asking price on striker Tammy Abraham as interest from the Premier League intensifies.

The Serie A side have no intention of cashing in on Tammy Abraham during the summer transfer window, following his prolific season in Italy.

Since departing his boyhood club Chelsea last summer for £34million to link up with the ex-Blues manager Jose Mourinho, Abraham has been a huge hit at Stadio Olimpico, scoring 23 goals and four assists from his 40 appearances in all competitions this season.

Chelsea inserted a buyback option into Abraham's deal, allowing the club to re-sign him for about £67million, which will only become active from 2023.

The 24-year-old goal scoring form, has seen him broken the joint-record of Gabriel Batistuta and Vincenzo Montella for goals in a debut season at Roma and has become the first English player to score 10+ Serie A goals in a season since David Platt in 1992.

His spectacular form has attracted several Premier League sides, as well as major European League outfits.

 

Manchester United are in the market for at least one centre forward ahead of 2022-23 season, as well as Man City, although Pep Guardiola’s side are prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

Arsenal also expressed an interest in signing Abraham last summer before his move to Italy, and are targeting attacking additions this summer after Aubameyang left for free to join Barcelona in January.

Chelsea could consider bringing Abraham back to the Bridge after Romelu Lukaku who was bought for £97m has failed to live up to expectations.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Roma will demand £100m if they receive any interest in their star man, despite Chelsea possessing a buy-back clause for a third of that figure.

As stated earlier, Roma are very desperate to keep hold on the striker, who is under contract until 2026, but could as well be tempted to sell if any club can meet anything close to their huge asking £100m price, with the club having posted losses of £154m last October, and given that Chelsea would be able to re-sign Abraham for much less than that price 12 months later.

Roma may also have to change their mind if they fail to secure a lucrative Champions League spot, as Mourinho’s side are currently sixth in the Serie A with 51 points.

They next play away to Sampdoria after the international break on April 3.
