Victor Osimhen Brace Against Verona Drags Napoli Closer To The Serie A Title Race.

Victor Osimhen bags a brace to ensure that SSC Napoli secures all three points against Hellas Verona in the Italian Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

The match which went down at the Marcantonio Bentegodi stadium, saw Osimhen make a right run to head in a cross from Matteo Politano's cross to give Luciano Spalletti's side the lead in the 14th minute.

On another throw-in, Osimhen converted a cross from six yards by Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the 71st minute to score his second in the game, after which the 23-year-old grabbed a camera from a photographer to take some pictures while rushing to the Napoli fans to celebrate.

The pictures taken by Osimhen were compiled in a video put together by the official Twitter handle of Napoli.

Along with the post was a message that said, "Coming soon: Victor's Photography Studio 📸@victorosimhen9."

 Verona tried to fight back against Napoli when Marco Faraoni pulled one back in the 77th minute through a looping header, before the fiery final whistle that saw Igor Tudor's team being shown two red cards, one to Federico Ceccherini in the 83rd minute for a second bookable offence, and to Marco Faraoni in the 90+8 minute for a livid protests directed at referee Daniele.

The eventful game ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors (Napoli), which moved them second in the standings with 60 points, three points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan.

AC Milan had won their game at home to Empoli 1-0 on Saturday evening, while Inter are five points back in third ahead of their trip to Torino on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Osimhen who keeps dragging Napoli to the title race has now scored more Serie A goals than any other Napoli player this season (9), and also the club’s joint top goalscorer in the Europa League (4), despite missing time due to illness and injuries.

His second goal which was a tap-in ended a run of four consecutive headed goals for Osimhen, who has been working on this part of his game, especially after wearing a protective mask for a facial fracture.

Osimhen now has 13 goals in total this season, with all of the goals coming from open play, and in addition drawn multiple penalties this season.

The Nigerian international, further assured that he ‘believes Napoli can do it’ as Napoli continue their Scudetto dream.

“I think after the defeat to Milan everyone was upset, so we went into a difficult ground against an organised team with determination and desire to win, it’s a deserved win,” the striker told DAZN.

“I’ve been doing some practice in training, Mario Rui and Di Lorenzo helped me with some crosses. I wanted to have more confidence with my head, it’s really important to me and I want to continue like this.

“Like I always say, we have to continue to win. In order to win the Scudetto, we must try to win every game this season. Today was a step towards our objective and I believe we can do it.”

On showing off his photography skills having taken a camera from the pitch-side photographer and took a snap of the Napoli fans when celebrating his second goal, he said;

“Koulibaly gave me the camera to take a picture of the fans. They have been amazing from start to finish and they deserved a shot!”

The former Lille striker will aim to find the back of the net when Napoli takes on Udinese in their next fixture scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2022.

After failing to make it to the Super Eagles AFCON 2021 squad in Cameroon, Osimhen is set to make a return when Nigeria takes on the Black Stars of Ghana in a double header qualifying play-off game on 25th and 29th later this month for a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
