Karim Benzema Wins 2021/22 Champions League Player Of The Season Award.

Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has been awarded the Champions League player of the season.



The Spanish giants defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the final to clinch their 14th title, and the France international, 34, won the tournament for the fifth time, driving his team to glory during their run of breath-taking comebacks against, PSG, Chelsea, and Man City.

He hit double figures for Champions League goals in a single season for the first time in his career, scoring 15 goals in 12 Champions League games, making him the tournament's top scorer  this season, ahead of Robert Lewandowski who finished second with 13 goals, Sébastien Haller in third with 11 goals, Mo Salah 8 goals and Riyad Mahrez 7 goals.

Benzema's first header away to Chelsea was also named Champions League Goal of the Season, and he is a very strong contender for the Ballon d'Or this year.



Vinicius Jr, Benzema's teammate who scored the only goal in the final in Paris, has been named the tournament's young Player of the Season.

In the 2021-22 season, the 21-year-old scored four goals and added six assists.

Real midfielder Luka Modric and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was named man of the match in Paris, join the pair on the Champions League squad of the season.


Runners-up Liverpool are represented by four players: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and Fabinho, who are all defenders.


Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain, Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City, and Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea completed the teams final XI of a 4-3-3 formation.
