Back to Back Defeats For The Super Eagles In Their USA Friendlies Tour Against Mexico and Ecuador..

The Super Eagles of Nigeria Suffers back-to-back deafeat against Mexico and Ecuador in their tour of the USA. 


Having lost 2-1 to Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Cyriel Dessers equalising goal wasn't enough, as Santiago Gimenez and an own goal from Willam- Troost Ekong gave the South America side victory on the day.

It was the first game of new Head Coach Jose Peseiro in charge of the Super Eagles who were hoping to  bounce back from that defeat when they faced Ecuador in the early hours of Friday morning.


The Eagles made only one change from the starting line-up against Mexico, following the introduction of Faisal Sani for the injured Innocent Bonke.

The game which went down at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, saw Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupiñán open scoring in just three mminutes into the game, having ran on to a swung in setpiece unmarked before heading past a stranded Francis Uzoho.

Before the commencement of the second half, the Eagles made two chances with Ola Aina and Emmanuel Dennis replacing Sani and Chidozie Awaziem.

Despite dominating the second-half and creating chances the Super Eagles failed to convert any.


The three-time AFCON champions have now gone five straight games without a win, losing three and drawing two.

 

Up next for the Super Eagles is that they would return to Nigeria in preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers game against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on June 9th behind closed doors at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
