BREAKING: Burnley Confirms Vincent Kompany As New Manager

 

Burnley's new manager, Vincent Kompany, is a former Manchester City captain.

After three years as head coach at Anderlecht, the 36-year-old ex-Belgian international has joined.

"It is an honour to be appointed first-team manager of Burnley Football Club," said Kompany, who succeeds caretaker manager Mike Jackson, who took over from Sean Dyche in April but was unable to save the club from relegation to the Championship.

"The challenge ahead of me excites me.

"When we return to Turf Moor, I'm looking forward to working with the players and putting together a winning team for our supporters."

"I've been impressed by the board's vision for the club, which is similar to mine, and I'm excited to contribute as we enter a crucial season."

The Clarets have named a "proven leader," according to chairman Alan Pace.

"We are ecstatic to welcome Vincent to Burnley Football Club," he expressed his delight.

"Vincent is a proven leader, and I've been impressed by his vision for Burnley Football Club, his desire to succeed, and his determination to return the club to the Premier League."
