BREAKING: Ryan Giggs Steps Down As Wales Manager

 Giggs has been on leave since November 2020 and will stand trial in Manchester on August 8 for domestic violence.

Between August 2017 and November 2020, the 48-year-old former Manchester United footballer is accused of controlling and coercive behavior toward his former partner Kate Greville.

On November 1, 2020, Giggs is accused of assaulting Ms Greville, causing her actual bodily harm, as well as assaulting her younger sister, Emma Greville, at his house in Worsley, Greater Manchester.

Giggs has rejected the charges and has pled not guilty to all of them.

The trial will begin on August 8 and will last approximately two weeks.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to manage my country," Giggs said in a statement. "However, it is only right that the Wales FA, coaching staff, and players prepare for the tournament with certainty, clarity, and without speculation around the position of their head coach."

He plans to "continue my managerial job at a later point," he stated.

The Football Association of Wales stated that it "acknowledges Ryan Giggs' personal statement made on June 20, 2022."

"The FAW expresses its gratitude to Ryan Giggs for his tenure as manager of the Cymru Men's National Team and appreciates his decision, which is in the best interests of Welsh football," the statement read.

"The FAW and the Cymru Men's National Team are completely focused on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year."

Giggs, who won 64 caps for Wales as a player, took over as manager from Chris Coleman.

During his brilliant playing career at Old Trafford, he had to win over many supporters who had questioned his loyalty to the Wales cause.

But Giggs did it, and Wales qualified for Euro 2020, their second consecutive European Championship finals, thanks to the brilliance of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

However, due to the coronavirus, Euro 2020 was postponed by a year, and Page, who was appointed as Giggs' assistant in August 2019, led Wales to the finals last summer.
