Chelsea Director, Marina Granovskaia To Leave Chelsea This Summer

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is expected to quit the club this summer.

This comes nine years after former owner Roman Abramovich named the 47-year-old to be among the club's board.

It would be the second major departure at Stamford Bridge this summer, following the announcement on Monday that chairman Bruce Buck will stand down at the end of June.

The two were prominent figures throughout the Abramovich period, frequently photographed with the Russian during his time at the club, and were major contributors to the team's success.

According to The Telegraph, Granovskaia will follow Buck out of Stamford Bridge and it is even believed her departure could be confirmed before the transfer window closes.

With the Todd Boehly era in full swing, it looks that the difficult decisions have been taken, with Buck announcing that he will stay on as an advisor, albeit Granovskaia's role is yet unknown.

Her association with the club dates back to 1997, when she worked as a personal assistant for the former chairman at Russian oil corporation Sibneft, before relocating to London in 2003 when Chelsea was purchased.

However, it appears that her time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end after a tumultuous few months.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the UK government sanctioned Abramovich, freezing all of his UK assets and forcing the Blues to operate under a special sporting license.

The 55-year-old eventually sold the club to Boehly in a combined deal with Clearlake Capital after months of uncertainty.

After the imminent departures of Granovskaia and Buck, two big names from the former government, the new era begins with the new owner of the West London club assuming responsibility for transfers negotiations.
