Chelsea Set Asking Price For Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea set asking price for Cesar Azpilicueta. They insist he must be sold for £7 million.

The 32-year-old has already reached a personal agreement on a two-year contract with the Spanish powerhouses, which will result in a significant wage raise over his Blues contract.

Azpilicueta has discussed the move with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and new co-owner Todd Boehly. He will make £11 million a season before taxes.

The asking price for Azpilicueta, who Chelsea paid £7 million for when they acquired him from Marseille ten years ago, is thought to be decreased through further negotiations.

After allowing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to go for free and join Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, Tuchel is reluctant to lose Azpilicueta.

However, with negotiations to recruit Manchester City defender Nathan Ake moving forward, Azpilicueta should have the opportunity to join the pair in La Liga.

Also on hold for the Blues is Barcelona's potential interest in Leeds forward Raphinha.

Leeds has accepted Chelsea's £55 million offer, but the player prefers a move to Spain and has Chelsea as a backup plan in case an offer does not come through.

Barcelona and Leeds are still in talks, but as of this writing, no counteroffer to Chelsea's has been made. The 26-year-old will make a decision on his future soon.
