Erik Ten Hag Era At Man United Begins With A Flying Win Against Liverpool.

Manchester United began their 2022 pre-season tour with a sensational 4-0 victory over rivals Liverpool in Bangkok, Thailand, o on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the first match under Erik Ten Hag following his appointment as the new permanent manager at the end of last season, as the Red Devils cruised to a flying start.

The Dutch manager began the game with what seems to be his strongest XI at the moment, and Bruno Fernandes handed the captain's armband in the absence of Harry Maguire.

With Cristiano Ronaldo not part of the 31-man squad that travelled to Bangkok, Martial led the line against last season's Premier League and Champions League runner-ups.

Jurgen Klopp on the other also named a strong team for the fixture, but decided to start with several youngsters in his team.

The match which went down at the Rajamangala Stadium, saw Jadon Sancho opened scoring in the 12th minute with his assured finish from the far corner beating Alisson Becker who was in goal for he Reds.

Two quickfire goals from Fred and Anthony Martial in the 30th and 33rd minute made 3-0 by half-time.

Both managers made several changes during the match, with Klopp eventually using 32 players in total, while Ten Hag used 10 fewer players.

Despite Liverpool being dominant in the second half, they were unable to earn at least a consolation goal.

Facundo Pellistri, who was introduced at half-time in place of Sancho, rounded off the scoring in the 76th minute to hand the Premier League gaints a 4-0 win.

Ten Hag speaking to MUTV after the game said; 'I am satisfied today. It was a team with a great sprit and we know we are just getting started,'

'We made some mistakes in the press, we conceded some chances, but we created a lot.

'We have to work hard to cut out the mistakes but of course we are happy.

'I know we have good players. We have started to build a team and I am happy with the first game.

'It will take a lot of time. I have seen a lot of mistakes. Liverpool played three teams, they were not at their strongest. We will not overestimate this result.

'But still, I have seen some really good things. A lot of speed and creativity up front.

It's always being a dream start to life for Ten Hag to win his first game in charge of United, following the teams very poor run of form, that saw them woefully lose both home and away league fixtures to Liverpool last season, 5-0 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and then 4-0 under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Man United were further crowned with a match trophy as the winners of the Bangkok Century Cup after their 4-0 win. They last beat Liverpool 4-0 in April 2003.

United next travel to Australia, with their next match against Melbourne Victory taking place on July 15.
