Liverpool Humbled By Ambitious Manchester United In Monday PL Defeat

The bold are not often rewarded in football, but Erik ten Hag most certainly was last night when goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford gave Manchester United a much-needed victory against their fierce rivals.

Although it is difficult to remember them, there may have been more audacious moves made in the post-Alex Ferguson era than Ten Hag's decision to bench Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo in the wake of United's disastrous season debut.

A night of off-field demonstrations against the club's unpopular owners stood in sharp contrast to the deafening noise and sheer joy that greeted nearly every kick of a memorable game. Few, if any, have had such a spectacular impact.

After 15 ferocious minutes, during which Sancho and his teammates had mostly helped a crowded old trafford forget about the season's disastrous start as well as the numerous weeks and months of suffering that came before it, they scored.

Liverpool may have contributed to their own demise, and this evening's performance would worry jurgen klopp after his team continued to enjoy the worst start to a league season in a decad

However, united were quick to every lost ball, nipped at every liverpool ankle, and after 10 minutes, when bruno fernandes expertly guided a scott mctominay cross to anthony elanga, the teenager nearly gave united the lead but hit the post with a powerful drive.

However, things were going Ten Hag's way, so his next important choice to insert Anthony Martial at halftime paid off quickly.

After 52 minutes, Jordan Henderson was caught in midfield by the United substitute, who then picked up the loose ball and sent Marcus Rashford streaking clear to beat Alisson from just inside the area. The goal was only confirmed after a VAR check for offside was performed.

The game was tense as de Gea had to react swiftly to stop Luis Diaz, while Alisson turned Rashford's curling shot around his post at the other end.

All in all, Manchester United fans would sleep well knowing that they finally have gotten a victory over their rivals.
