Cristiano Ronaldo Reaches 700 Club Goals As Man United Beats Everton.

As Manchester United overcame an early deficit to defeat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park, Ronaldo scored his 700th club goal.

Few would have predicted that the forward, who started the season with 698 goals, would need more than two months to reach the milestone, but his limited position in the team has kept him waiting.

When Alex Iwobi gave Everton the lead early on in the fifth minute, it appeared as though United was in for another frustrating evening. However, Antony continued his recent goal-scoring streak as he scored his  third goal in three Premier League games to pull the visitors even.

Ronaldo who was brought in for injured Martial, finally scored his 700th club career goal as he hammered a low attempt in at the near post to give the visitors the lead going into halftime after missing a number of chances in the Europa League midweek.

The win, which moves United up to sixth in the Premier League standings with a game remaining against three of the four teams above them, is a much-needed rebuke to last week's humiliating loss in the Manchester derby.

Speaking about his side's performance in general, United manager Erik Ten Hag said: "Quickly 1-0 down but the reaction of the team is good that’s one of our aims to do better with setbacks, how they stay composed, stay in the game, played out of a good formation for the first 35 minutes, it was impressive our side.

"I think especially first-half, it was the pressing well. We came out and it was difficult for them to come in the game, the game is to get switches and a lot of crosses in we didn’t allow that. I’m happy about that.

"You seen during the game how important he [Ronaldo] is. How composed he is, winning a lot of balls, winning the ball for the goal of Cristiano Ronaldo. So good performance. Once again, we’re happy with all the subs coming on, Cristiano making the winning goal, clear, also Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, in the end four during difficult situations."
