OFFICIAL: Steven Gerrard Has Been SACKED As Aston Villa Manager.

Following a devastating 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Thursday night, Aston Villa have sacked Steven Gerrard as manager.

The game at the Craven Cottage, saw Villa had a player sent off, conceded a penalty and an own goal in a disastrous display.

It was a performance worrying enough for the owners to decide they needed to make a change in the hours after the game.

A club released a statement reads; “Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect.”

A club spokesman added: “We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.”

Villa are fourth from bottom having won just two of their opening 11 games.

The calls for Gerrard to get the sack were already there before they rocked up to Craven Cottage on Thursday night. He has been in charge of 39 matches, 19 losses, 12 wins and 8 draws, 45 goals scored, 53 goals conceded at the club.

They begin their search for a new manager, as sources believes that Aston Villa are admirers of Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is another top target but it is believed he would take a lot of persuading to accept the job.
