OFFICIAL: Joao Felix Joins Chelsea On Loan From Atletico Madrid Until End Of Season.

Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese forward, was seen leaving the Atletico Madrid training ground on Tuesday before flying to London with his influencer girlfriend to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the West London side.

The Blues will reportedly pay a £9million loan fee for the player, as they beat other Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal to the signing of the 23-year-old, with neither side willing to pay the €11m (£9.69m) loan fee plus wages.

There is no option to buy included in the loan deal and Felix has also signed a one-year extension to his current contract which will keep him at the Wanda Metropolitano until June 2027, meaning he will likely return to Spain upon the end of his spell at Stamford Bridge. 

Felix joined the Spanish side Atletico for about €126m (£111m), which one is of the most expensive deal of all time from Benfica in 2019.

He has just scored five goals and three assists in all competitions this season, and the La Liga club decided to let him leave on loan this January because of his difficult relationship with manager Diego Simeone.

Felix also scored one goal and two assists for his country Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

On the loan move to Chelsea, Felix told the club's official website: 

"Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge."

Chelsea have been struck by an injury crisis in recent weeks and acted quickly to get Felix's deal over the line.

He becomes Chelsea's fourth signing of the month following the arrivals of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos.

Graham Potter's men return to action in the Premier League when they visit Fulham on Thursday night.  

The Blues are currently in tenth position with 25 points, that's ten points from fourth-placed Man United and three points from Fulham, who sit in seventh.

They would head into the tie off the back of successive Premier League and FA Cup defeats against Man City.

Despite some uninspired displays, the Blues can draw inspiration from the absence of Fulham's top striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who will miss the derby after picking up a fifth yellow card in a 1-0 win over Leicester City.
