Ronaldo had started the weekend with a perfect birthday gift, having scored his first goal for his new club Al-Nassr as he netted a stoppage-time penalty in a 2-2 draw with Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.

He has found the net once in three appearances so far since he joined the Saudi Arabian club.

Ronaldo wrote on Instagram: 'Thank you everyone for all the birthday messages. Grateful to have spent the day with my family and friends.'

Ronaldo became the highest paid earner in sport following his move to Al-Nassr, after his acrimonious departure from former employers Manchester United in November last year.

He signed a deal worth £175million-a-year, with his contract running until June 2025.

Born in Funchal on February 5, 1985. He's hailed as one of the Greatest of All Times (GOAT) in the sport, Ronaldo's achievements will need some time listing them. The five-time Ballon d'Or Award winner has many records to his name.

The former Sporting CP, Man United, Real Madrid and Juventus player has earned the most European player honours with four European Golden Shoes and five Ballon d’Or titles. In his career, he has won 34 trophies, including the UEFA European Championship, the UEFA Nations League, five UEFA Champions Leagues, and seven league titles.

Ronaldo holds the records for most appearances (183), goals (140), and assists (42) in the Champions League, goals in the European Championship (14), international goals (118), and joint-most international appearances (196).  He is one of the select few athletes with over 1,100 career appearances in the professional sphere and over 820 senior-career goals for both club and country.

Ronaldo had two spells at United. The Red Devils used a picture from the forward's first spell at the club with the message:

"Happy Birthday Cristiano."

Ronaldo made an emotional return to Man United in 2021 from Juventus for two years, which was his second stint that ended on a sour note after he lambasted the club during an interview with Piers Morgan. His contract at United was futher terminated by mutual consent.

The five-time Ballon' d'Or winner has regularly stated that he aims to play football into his 40s.

Ronaldo is expected to return to action with Al-Nassr when they take on Al-Wehda on Thursday, February 9, 2023. His team are currently top of the league, but they are above Al-Shabab and Al-Ittihad only on goal difference.
