Victor Osimhen Reacts To Scoring Twice In Napoli's 3-0 Win Against Spezia, And Also Apologized To A Young Fan.

Victor Osimhen can't stop scoring, as he fired a brace to help Napoli beat Spezia 3-0 in the Series A on Sunday afternoon.

There was a curious incident before kick-off during the warm-up ahead of matchday 21 fixture at the Stadio Picco, a footage emerged showing Osimhen climbing up the Spezia crowd after he had accidentally hit the young girl with the ball.

He apologized to the young fan before giving her a heartfelt hug. But when he tried to return to the pitch to re-join his team-mates in the warm-up, fans surrounded the in-form goal-scorer, holding onto the striker, and desperate to take selfies with him.

The Nigeria Super Eagles star, eventually put the incident behind him, and went on to score twice as Napoli continue their push for their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Spezia missed nine of their regular players but made life difficult for the visitors in the first half.

After a while, the Partenopei finally found the breakthrough, as Arkadiusz Reca handball led to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia opening the scoring for Napoli from the spot two minutes after the break.

The Georgian then set up two quickfire goals for Osimhen, a towering header after Spezia goalkeeper, Bartlomiej DrÄ…gowski spilled Kvaratskhelia’s cross into his path in the 68th minute.

Osimhen then tapped home from close range five minutes later after Kvaratskhelia’s robbed Mattia Caldara to roll across for his teammate to make it 3-0 for Napoli.

The victory sees Luciano Spalletti's men establish a temporal 16-point lead at the top of Serie A, awaiting the Derby della Madonnina this later this evening between rivals Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Meanwhile the brace for Osimhen makes it his 16th goals in 17 league appearances for Napoli this season, four goals more than closest challenger and compatriot, Ademola Lookman for Atalanta.

The 24-year-old, becomes only the fourth Napoli player to score 16 goals in the first 21 Serie A games of the season, following in the footsteps of Luis Vinicio in 1955-56, Edinson Cavani in 2012-13 and Gonzalo Higuain in 2015-16.

Speaking after the game, Osimhen said it is a ‘great privilege’ for him to make history for Napoli and explains why he clambered into the Spezia fans before kick-off. ‘I felt so sorry!’

“Congratulations to the team, it’s good to contribute two goals. Big respect to Spezia, they gave us a good fight in the first half,” Osimhen told Sky Sport Italia.

“We needed these points to keep the momentum going. I’m happy with the win and of course to be in the history of Napoli is a great privilege for me, so I am very happy for this.

“All the victories are important, we need to keep the momentum and try to win all games. It is not going to be easy of course, Serie A is a very competitive league and we have to be on top of our game. We go back, we prepare for the next game, that is the most important thing.”

Apart from a deadly striker in front of goal, the Nigerian remains a humble and compassionate professional.

“I was making the practice shot, I shot over the goal and there was a lady in the middle of the fans. I think she was looking at her phone, the ball hit her in the face and I felt so sorry, as I didn’t mean to do that. I had to show my appreciation and say sorry for that.”

Osimhen, has been a sensation this season, and his success both domestically and in the Champions League inevitably attracted attention from Europe biggest and most financially powerful clubs in the world.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, with Erik ten Hag's side so eager to recruit a striker following Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Old Trafford last year.

The Red Devils will reportedly have to pay at least £90million to Napoli if they are to sign Osimhen.

PSG are also interested in his services, and Chelsea recently entered the race for a summer bidding war for Osimhen. According  reports, the Bues are ready to pay anything well over €100m to get him to Stamford Bridge.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for €75m plus €4m in add-ons, he has so far scored 43 goals in 82 appearances across all competitions .

His contract with Luciano Spalletti's side expires in 2025 and talks over a new deal are thought to not have taken place yet.
