Kelechi Iheanacho Voted Man of the Match After Leicester City Win Against Aston Villa.

Leicester City twice came from behind to defeat Aston Villa in a six-goal thriller in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers men punished Aston Villa for a string of errors as they won the thrilling encounter, registering their first Premier League victory since November.

Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, continued his goal-scoring form with a goal and two assists as the Foxes secured the vital three points.

Coming into the game at the Villa Park, Unai Emery’s side have taken 16 points from a possible 21, while Leicester had just one point from their previous five matches.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for the host nine minute into the game after slotting home a rebound from Emiliano Buendia’s outside shot.

An error from Boubacar Kamara, saw Leicester equalised in the 12th minute after Iheanacho set up James Maddison who made a simple finish.

Leicester's new signing Harry Souttar who joined the club on January transfer Deadline Day from Stoke City, gave the host the lead again as he scored an own goal on his debut by deflecting Watkins' cross home in the 32nd minute.

Iheanacho then followed up his FA Cup fourth round only goal against Walsall by netting Leicester's second equaliser, having been left unmarked to head home in the 41st minute. 

Leicester further took the lead for the first time in the game after another January signing, Brazilian winger Tete who is on-loan from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, unexpectedly fired the Foxes ahead with the final kick of the first half courtesy of Iheanacho's assist again.

Villa returned in the second half largely dominating and playing some brilliant attacking football throughout which saw a goal ruled out for offside by Philippe Coutinho.

Another error from Unai Emery's men extended Leicester lead as they added their fourth goal late on. Alex Moreno's poor control allowed substitute Dennis Praet through to finish past Emi Martinez in the 79th minute.

Iheanacho was later replaced by James Vardy in the 67th minute.

His goal against Villa was his second in the league this season since last September against Brighton.

He has started just two Premier League games for the Foxes this season and has scored in the two.

The 26-year-old forward has made 15 league appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Iheanacho was voted Man of the Match having emerged the overwhelming choice of Leicester City fans as he topped the poll with 55 percent of votes.

New signings Tete and Victor Kristiansen came second and third, respectively.

The victory for Leicester City, was their first Premier League victory since before the World Cup break, as it eased their relegation concerns 

Brendan Rodgers’ side were only outside of the bottom three on goal difference before kick-off in a Midlands derby, but have now move to 13th place on 21 points. They are now three points clear of the relegation places, while Aston Villa remain in 11th place on 28 points after the defeat.

Leicester next return to action when they host Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday, February 11, Aston Villa will play away to Man City the next day.
