Leo Messi Wears No.10, While Neymar Wears No.11 In Coupe de France Game Against Marseille.

Lionel Messi is wearing the number 10 for Paris Saint-Germain in the round-of-16 of the Coupe de France against Olympique Marseille on Wednesday night, while teammate Neymar wears the number 11 shirt.

According to reports, French Cup rules require all Field players to wear numbers between 1-11.

Messi has worn the no.30 in every Ligue 1 and Champions League appearance for PSG.

Since his arrival at PSG in August 2021, this will be the second time that the Argentine would be playing in the French Cup. On that occasion in February 2022, it was against Nice and he also wore the number 10, as Neymar who is the owner of that number, was not on the field at that time.

Unfortunately, PSG lost to Nice in a penalty shootout.

In this season's round of 32 game of the French Cup away to Pays de Casse which PSG won 7-0 in January, Messi did not play, but Neymar was there and wore that shirt.

Despite Neymar being available for selection this time, the Brazilian playmaker has agreed to wear the shirt with the number 11 on the back, just as he had during his four seasons at Barcelona, giving Messi the chance to will wear his iconic number in the encounter.

Some of other PSG's squad members have also opted to take some odd numbers, with centre-midfielder Danilo Pereira wearing No. 9, and Vitinha taking No. 7. PSG have put out an otherwise strong lineup, with Sergio Ramos also returning from injury for the contest.

Messi throughout his career has worn jerseys number 10, 15, 18 and 19 in the Argentine National Team, in Barcelona and in the Parisian team.
