Pep Guardiola Reacts To Possibly Winning The Historic Treble With Man City After Trashing Real Madrid To Reach The UCL Final.

Manchester City demolished Real Madrid 4-0 (5-1 on aggregate) in front of a thronging Etihad crowd, to set up a Champions League final with Italian giants Inter Milan.

It was a clash between arguably the two best teams in Europe in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals, with the tie delicately poised 1-1 after the first leg at the Bernabeu a week ago.

A first-half brace from Bernardo Silva along with an own goal from Eder Militao in the second half, and the cherry on top from substitute Julian Alvarez to ensure that Man City cruise to a 4-0 win and 5-1 on aggregate.

City are now into their second Champions League final, and will be looking to win the title for the first time. They narrowly lost their first final to Chelsea 1-0 at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto two seasons ago.

Madrid on the other hand, failed to make it a record-extending 15 Champions League titles this year. Los Blancos who are the most successful side in the competition won their 14th title last season following a 1-0 victory against Liverpool at the Stade de France, Paris.

City's thrilling victory over Madrid came after their dramatic exit at the hands of the Spanish giants at the same stage of last year's Champions League.

Carlo Ancelotti's side scored twice in stoppage time in the second leg last May to book a place in the final at City's expense, and Guardiola admitted the pain of that night in the Bernabeu 12 months ago had played a part in the performance.

Man City will be favoured to beat Inter Milan on June 10 at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

They are now just three wins away from winning the historic treble; a third successive Premier League title, into the FA Cup final, and Champions League in the same season.

Manager Pep Guardiola has repeatedly distanced himself from talk of a treble, achieved only once before in English football by neighbors Manchester United in 1999, but after massive victory against Madrid, the City boss admitted his squad have started to think about the prospect of writing themselves into the history books.

"Let me win the first two," said Guardiola when asked about City's chance of winning the treble.

"In the Premier League we are close. We know we need one more game and I would say we play against our neighbours [Manchester United] and against an Italian team [Internazionale] in the finals. The season is really, really good, now we have to lift it. We are close and of course we are going to try.

"We are there, we can think about it, we can visualise it. We are three games away. One each of the competitions, we can do it."

Guardiola now has the chance to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011 with Barcelona.

The Spaniard failed to win it during his time in Germany with Bayern Munich and so far he hasn't managed to win it with City but that could all change on June 10 in Istanbul.
