Cole Palmer Reveals He Supported Man United While Growing Up, As He Praised His Side Dramatic 4-3 Win, And Scoring His First Senior HATTRICK In The Process.

Cole Palmer has praised his side's determination in the sensational 4-3 win against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night in the most dramatic of circumstances.

The Chelsea ace, who is the man of the moment, scored twice in the matter of minutes (added time) to complete his first senior career hattrick.

With United winning 3-2 in added time, Chelsea were awarded a late penalty, which Palmer converted to make it 3-3 in dying minutes, before grabbing his third with a deflected effort, and saw Chelsea come from behind to beat the Red Devils 4-3 in the blink of an eye.

The Blues drew first blood within the opening four minutes, with Conor Gallagher converting Malo Gusto’s deflected shot, before Palmer doubled the lead 2-0 having slotted home from the penalty spot after Antony fouled Marc Cucurella in the box.

But the two-goal cushion did not last long though, as United roared back before the break. Alejandro Garnacho pulled one back following a Moises Caicedo error, before Bruno Fernandes equalised with a guided header.

However, Mauricio Pochettino's men tried to restore their lead when Gallagher hit the post in added time, but they found themselves behind after half-time when Garnacho nodded home his second on the night to give the visitors a 2-3 lead.

The game looked to be ending that way, but Palmer had other ideas nine minutes into stoppage time, making it 3-3 with another penalty after Diogo Dalot had fouled Noni Madueke.

‌But incredibly, there was still time for the former Man City's man who arrived in the summer for a fee around £42.5million, to deliver the knockout blow after 100min 39sec as his 20-yard shot took a telling deflection off Scott McTominay past Andre Onana which was virtually the final kick of the game.

In his post-match interview, Palmer added one last twist of the knife, by admitting he grew up as a United fan. 

On supporting United, Palmer said: “Yes when I was growing up.

“I take each game as it comes and show the Chelsea fans.”

Palmer now has 16 goals in the Premier League this season, as well as eight assists. In all competitions for the Blues the 21-year-old has scored 21 goals and assisted 12 in 39 appearances.

‌Palmer also added that he was “buzzing” to score the first hat-trick of his career and clinch Chelsea’s first Premier League win in 13 games against United. 

‌He gasped: "Crazy game, I don't know [how Chelsea came back]! We were 2-0 up and then we made silly mistakes.

"When we scored in the 98th minute, I thought let's go for it. Madness. I didn't know what to do. I was running around when I scored. A hat-trick is a hat-trick. It was my first one, I'm really happy about it. I had a few penalties this season. I'm just going to continue to try to score them. If I get penalties, I'm going to try to score, I'm not going to try to miss.

‌“When the eight minutes got added on it gave us a lift and I thought let’s go for it. It was madness. We need to try to win as many games as possible, but to win like that, there is nothing better.

‌"We thought when we scored the third goal the fans lifted us and I saw the gaffer say there were two minutes left - and thankfully I scored again.”
