Thiago Silva To DEPART Chelsea At The End Of The Season And RETURN To His Boyhood Club Fluminense.

Thiago Silva is set to depart Chelsea after their final game of the Premier League season against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on May 19, following the expiration of his contract.

He will re-join Brazilian club and reigning Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense on a two-year contract until June 2026, after four seasons with the Blues.

Thiago who had earlier confirmed on April 29 that he would leave Chelsea, will now be allowed to join his new teammates and train with Fluminense prior to his registration transferring on July 1.

The 39-year-old made more than 150 appearances for Chelsea and won the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

He has also forged a lasting bond with West London club supporters and was named the club’s Player of the Year at the end last season (2022/23).

Silva played for Fluminense between 2006 and 2008. He left for AC Milan in 2009, and three years later joined Paris Saint-German. He signed for Chelsea in 2020 on a free transfer and won the Champions League the following year. He won a total of 30 trophies in his 14-year stay in Europe.

He has revealed his intention to one day return to the club in the future in "another role."

 The Brazilian defender has been named in the Brazil squad for the last four World Cups. He also won the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2019 Copa América with the national team.

Silva, who just made his Premier League comeback from injury, played as Chelsea thrashed West Ham 5-0 last Sunday. He will be hoping to play in the team's remaining games of the season against Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Bournemouth as the Blues look to end a disappointing campaign with a win and guarantee a spot in the Europa League for next season.
