Serena Williams and Simona Halep Set For Battle At The Wimbledon Final

The 37-year-old American professional tennis player, and current World No.10 Serena Williams defeated 33-year-old Czech professional tennis player, and current World No.54 Barbora Strycova in the Wimbledon Semi finals on Thursday trashing her 6-1, 6-2 in a match which lasted 59 minutes.



The victory for Serena means that she is headed to the Wimbledon final for the 12th time in history. She is on the verge of winning an eight Wimbledon Championship, and currently chasing her 24th Grand Slam titles, which is one shy of Magaret Court's all time record of 24 since 1973.



Serena Williams will have to face current World No.7 Simona Halep of Romania, who on the other hand trashed out Ukranian professional tennis player and Current World No.8 Elina Svitolina 6-1,6-3 in the first Semi final match at the centre court to set up a Wimbledon final between the American and Romanian.

This would be Simona Halep first ever trip to the Wimbledon final, and she is the first Romanian woman to reach the final.

Serena Williams and Simona Halep are the only two players to have made a major final in each of the last three Women's Tennis Association ( WTA) season. They meet in a Slam final for the first time on Saturday at Wimbledon.
