The SerieA Clubs Are Hopeful Of Returning To Training Soon, As They Remain Committed To Completing The Current Season.
Serie A remains committed to completing the current season, and don't mind if the remaining fixtures are played behind closed doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.
CloudNine Sports reported that the league, was initially expected to resume on 3rd April, but was furtherly suspended indefinitely, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has already stated that the 2019-20 campaign will not resume until the health and safety of all concerned can be guaranteed.
According to reports, Italy have been the most hit country with the virus, with 181, 228 confirmed cases, 24,114 cases leading to deaths, and 48,877 recovery.
Following a general meeting on Tuesday, which had the presence of all 20 club members met via video conference, as they agreed with an unanimous votes, confirmed a continuation of the 2019-20 campaign.
“The intention is to complete the current football season if the government allows it to take place in full compliance with the rules for the protection of health and safety"... a statement from Italy's top flight read.
"The resumption of sporting activity, in the so-called Phase 2, will take place in accordance with the regulations laid out by FIFA and UEFA, with the decisions of the FIGC as well as in compliance with the medical protocols for the protection of footballers and all professionals.
The Italian Sports minister, Vincenzo Spadafora, has said that he is hoping that clubs would return to training as soon as possible, and he is yet to confirm a May 4 date, with the current restrictions on movement and outdoor activities set to end on May 3.
The Old ladies of Juventus, currently tops the league standings with 63 points, one piont above Lazio who are second and 9 points ahead of third place team Inter Milan, after 26 matches and 12 more matches to end the season.
