Erling Haaland, Mikel Arteta And Allan Saint-Maximin Emerges Premier League Player, Manager And Goal Of The Month Award Winners

 Man City striker Erling Haaland has been named Premier League Player of the Month for August.

The 22-year-old Norwegian was recognised for his outstanding start to the 2022/23 Premier League season, which sees him lead the top goalscorer chart with 9 goals in five appearances in just his first season.

He also becomes the only the sixth player to score hat-tricks in consecutive Premier League appearances, doing so against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, being the first to achieve the feat since Harry Kane in 2017.

Haaland is the first player to win the award in his first month in the competition since Bruno Fernandes did so for Manchester United in February 2020.

He emerged winner of the award ahead of fellow nominees Arsenal's duo Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, Pascal Groß (Brighton), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope, Rodrigo Moreno (Leeds), and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace).

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also been named Premier League Manager of the Month for August, winning the award for the third time in his managerial career.

He won the award twice last season (September 2021 and March 2022).

This would be the first time an Arsenal manager has won the August award since 2004.

Arteta led the North London side to a five-match winning start in the league in August.

He saw off competition from Tottenham’s Antonio Conte; Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Everton’s Marco Silva, and new Chelsea boss Graham Potter who was formerly of Brighton and Hove Albion.

“We won all five of our August fixtures, scoring 13 goals and conceding only four in the process. Our manager led us to victory against Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Bournemouth, Fulham, and Aston Villa, finishing the month top of the table,” the club wrote after the Spaniard scooped the prize.

“Mikel is our second manager to win his opening five games of a Premier League season. Arsene Wenger achieved this record in two successive seasons during our Invincibles era of 2003/04.”

Despite losing their last league game 3-1 away to Manchester United, the Gunners are still first on the log with 15 points.

Aside from Haaland and Arteta, Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin took the Goal of the Month award for his 90th-minute effort against Wolves.
